General Rules for Slack Messaging

• Any message in the slack that is obscene, defamatory, threatening or discriminatory to an individual is not permitted.

• Respect the privacy of all members. 

• Always act in a professional and constructive manner when communicating a difference of ideas.

• When having a conversation and responding to someone on the slack, respond in a thread to limit spamming. 

• Don’t @ channel or @ here after 10pm EST to avoid unwanted notifications late at night

Channel Outlines

• Defaults: These are the channels that every member is automatically in and

• Committee Channels: These channels are for teams working on these specific initiatives to organize internally within Lower Hudson DSA

• Issue Channels: These channels are focused on issues regarding many issues and usually include organizing both internally and externally

• Regional organizing: These channels are for locals to organize and coordinate in there area, please only join these if you have a stake in those communities(i.e. Live there, work there, etc.)

• #random : For Off Topic Conversation

Committees:

• #graphicdesign  : Designing graphics, logos, and more

• #onboarding  : Working to bring new members into the loop and active

• #political_education  : Organizing political education for members

• #regional_leaders  : Regional leaders, organizing in their local communities, dm any steering committee members to join

• #extremely-online : Important! this is the channel to discuss posting on our social media accounts, anyone may post suggestions and only two members needed to post, more details in the pinned post

• #steering_committee : This is the organizers of the chapter, more details on their roles follow below
